After all, I have told you that Boyo has had a bad stomach on and off – actually ever since he got it home 12 February. His best friend (or; what was meant to be his best friend) Mozart, leonbergerblandningen, have the Giardia parasite, so I've been worried that Boyo has also been infected. After a serious deworming a couple of weeks ago, I sent poop samples yesterday to Vidilab, and today the answer came.
To my extreme great joy, there are no spores or cysts from the Giardia parasite at Boyo. I couldn't be more pleased and grateful with that result. For several weeks I have been unsure and torn about what I believed – it hasn't felt like he had it, but it hasn't felt like he didn't have it either. It has been like standing in full balance on a knife edge without excess weight in either direction. But it's better to know for sure than to believe, so I bought home a kit from kollamasken.nu.
I knew that not when i bought it, but you can choose whether you want to check mask, or if you either want to exchange it for a Giardia test, lungworm test or buy one of the latter. I changed the worm test to the Giardia test. This is something that can be good to know if you suspect that your dog may have Giardia. Then of course there are other places where you can buy home tests for Giardia (which is sent to the lab).
I'm incredible grateful for this. Partly because it feels like I got back the money I thought I would have to invest in disinfectants, steam cleaner and various other cleaning equipment. Now I can avoid it, and all of a sudden I feel rich instead.

So my thought now about Boyo's stomach is that he simply has a sensitive one. That is the theory I intend to work from now. At the moment he is eating a pig expensive veterinary feed, and I don't think it's good for him to eat in the long run. So I have started to introduce his usual food in extremely small quantities, to increase it over time. If it turns out that it doesn't work, I'll see if I can find another lining instead.
But it feels as an easier task than getting rid of Giardia.
