So another year has passed. It is with dogs as with children – it is on them that you notice that you are getting older. Or yes, not only. For those of us who are 40+ you notice it in your body too.
Jag hade stora planer om att socialisera och miljöträna Boyo på många olika ställen, men som valp var han för liten att gå, and ever since Covid came to Sweden and started to spread, I have been extremely careful and restrictive with bus travel. So it hasn't been environmental training as I would have liked.
Then we have also had Lilo here more than any of us thought. There is serious illness in her family, and when they were hospitalized, Lilo was with us – sometimes several weeks straight. She is so easy to deal with, so there have been no problems. The only hard part about it has been not knowing how long – but now that phase is over and it has started to return to some kind of everyday life again.
So start with Boyo didn't turn out exactly as I imagined. But now this year ends and a new one begins. For me personally, it doesn't make much of a difference, other than the numbers i 2020/2021, and that I had to get myself a new calendar. Although I still think that I will take advantage of the new year and try to recreate a bit of what I had in mind with Boyo from the beginning. Now that Lilo's family has an everyday life again, I have more time to devote to Boyo and his training on my own. And when his teenage period passed, it will be much easier. It goes up and down a bit, the selective hearing thing, comprehension and so on.
The best with this year is of course Boyo. I am one of those people who believe that there is a meaning to it all, most of all – and that I got Boyo home must have been carefully planned by someone. He and Lilo needed each other, and even though I may not see it right now, one may assume that he and I also have a point in having found each other. But his arrival has given me a tremendous amount – a dog life of your own, for example. I enjoy having other people's dogs here, but it's not the same as living with my own dog.
…
Right now have we recently came home from a round of town. When we got home from Boyo's vaccination, Lilo was completely exhausted, so her mother asked a bit presciently if I couldn't do something similar today for tonight's New Year's celebration. So we went by bus, escalator and lift, walked around town for a while, met one of my best friends and her dog – a real adventure. My hope is that Lilo, which is incredibly reactive at high, sudden noises, must be so tired that it assuages her fear. Boyo – there, the living will see how his reaction to fireworks will be. We've heard firecrackers on and off when we've been out, and he hasn't reacted at all. So my hope is that he will fix this without any problems.
Men – from me, Molly and Boyo all the way to you and your dog(s).; we wish you a really good one, new dog year. ♥
