Boyo had a lot of problems with diarrhea when he was a puppy. After much thought and discussion – and the turn when I thought he was wearing Giardia, So we landed in that he had a sensitive stomach against above all wheat. Therefore, for over a year he has eaten Bozita Original Wheat -free, and has worked well at it (Want to say; damn good).
This is both new and not new to me. Ella had a stomach of steel and could handle any food. The other bitch I fed ate for a period, on the other hand, also had a very sensitive stomach. Countless were the times we rushed out but didn't make it all the way out, without her leaving a big pile of smelly diarrhea in the stairwell. Or inside, for that part. Boyo has never pooped in the stairwell, but well indoors a number of times. And I can't express enough how shitty (all pun intended) it is to clean up after canine diarrhea.
Men – with Bozita so we have escaped it. Besides, he's a food wreck, so he happily put the food down and would have liked to take a double. But in some measure it is allowed to be.
Regardless – now during the summer he has started to eat a little badly, I think. The first time he gets food, he barely eats at all. After that, he might eat everything he had for breakfast, and possibly half of the next (he is still fed three times a day). Now this is a little different, but on the whole – he eats a little fussy. I attributed it to the fact that it was warm, we haven't moved much, and that, in addition, with at least some probability there have been running bitches somewhere around here. But on the other hand, I didn't think he reacted significantly otherwise.
But for one A couple of weeks ago I started to think about this with his feed. I've read a bit here and been in various groups on Facebook that grain free dry food is not automatically bad for dogs. I have also read/heard somewhere that dogs who have sensitive stomachs as puppies may well grow up to have stable stomachs. If it is true – not the palest.
However, it got it me to think about whether it might be time to try another feed for Boyo. Partly to see if it can increase his appetite a little, secondly, see if his stomach can handle a feed of grain, secondly, it would be good for our economy to find a slightly cheaper feed. Now Bozita is not the most expensive, but he still gets quite expensive to run because he eats more than one sack per month.
Said and done. I bought home a sack of Axess, which is the feed Ella ate in many, many years, and worked great on. Boyo tried that line last year while we were looking for a line that would work, so I know he enjoys it.
And it does he. He eats the food if it is more Axess than Bozita. I started with a couple, three balls in the regular food, then I have increased over time. Now we are up to a handful, and the stomach still works. It's almost like he shits better than before. A bit early to decide though, and I can't say anything for sure until he's completely over Axess.
I do not know At all what I can expect. A year ago when we tried several different feeds, it worked fine for a few weeks – then his stomach crashed and he had diarrhoea (every time he pooped, in other words). I hope this will last over time, because it would be so very convenient (buys Axess at Willys where I wholesale every month).
So for all of the, fingers crossed that Boyo's stomach holds. 🙂 Fingers crossed that his poop continues to be firm and nice, hopefully relatively stink-free and with good color. 😀
