Socializing versus training

From the middle previous posts about our new day dogs – two young dogs, I thought I would continue with a post focusing on the difference between hanging out and training your dog in certain behaviors. I bet there are a number of readers who think I do completely wrong and that I should train the dogs to do what I want instead.

It has like usually much with positive reinforcement to do, and how I annoy myself at how those who devote themselves exclusively to it look at the one who does not. For me, positive reinforcement is a tool – but only one of several. I also use positive reinforcement when to teach my dog something, or when I think he is good on his own and is doing well.

But in my opinion Does positive reinforcement do not work in all situations. Above all, it is quite pointless when it comes to nurturing a dog. I know that anyone who deals with positive reinforcement trains his dog to curse, and for me personally it's completely wasted time. To train your dog in hanging out indoors feels – well, A little tangible, only. To train your dog in constantly keeping its energy level at a level so that it can cope with hearing and bring in it I (or someone else) desires in this particular moment will also be a bit silly.

For me, shopping The thing about spending time with their own and others' dogs – Especially when it is day dogs that are in my own home, About to nurture them. It's something completely different from training them. At least it is so for me.

With experience with Ella who always had an extreme energy I have pretty good experience in taking a dog out of its high energy cloud. It is never ever about being mean, Violent or to do bad dog. It is always about helping the dog to get down to the energy level, so that it works better in this particular situation. Sometimes it is not enough with verbal corrections. Sometimes the correction needs to be physical. Some times it is enough to poke to the dog so that it comes off. Other times it is necessary to grab the dog and hold it still, so that the brain can slow down and get in a race.

Another thing I can tease myself is how many seem to think that all dogs are the same, and that dogs' feelings are generally hurt by getting a correction. My view is actually quite the opposite.

To begin with – All dogs are not the same dogs. As little as one can pull all people over a comb, Can't pull all dogs over a comb. One can and should not expect all dogs to be super -nice, Supergoa and easy to deal with. It is not true. Some dogs are really crap to handle.

One of the dogs Last Thursday I have had to correct over and over again because of the energy level that made the eyes rolled in the skull and hearing have been completely turned off. Last time on Wednesday (thus the day before the dog party) ongoing the completion of the correction so long that he almost fell asleep. My view is that he really needed the time to get down in turns, And I also think he appreciated it.

Me and Boyo As I said, there was met on a lot of dogs during the summer and autumn. Basically every single one has been considerably softer than I have normally handled. Such a dog I would not be able to handle the way I handled Ella. Such a dog would break down if I treated it so. Thus, one must find another way that works better for that particular individual – and believe me when I say that; We have met individuals of breeds I imagined is very tough but instead been extremely soft and wrapping. Means that I think that all individuals in these particular breeds are soft and folded?

No.

But it is same. A dog such as Ella you can't treat as if she was made of glass and breaks just looking at her. Ten years with her – believe me, I have tested various methods. What worked best is to be a very determined leader figure with a core of steel. She needed me to be, so it was just like to set up and be. Had I been cuddled out, she would have taken care of far too much and become a monster, and it had not been nice to either her, me or someone else.

You who read here regularly by this time would have realized that the thing about training a dog in exactly every behavior I dislikes is not really my thing. I prefer to communicate with dogs through body language instead, Because I think it's schysstare. Not a single one of the dogs I have been in contact with has suffered from it.

On the contrary.

By someone unknown Reason I have easy to get in touch with dogs and get them to listen and understand me, and also to feel good. The day dogs that have been and are here rushes up the stairs in the morning when they come and are shit happy to be here.

However, this means not that I think my way of relating to dog is the only, or that everyone must be and do as I. Do you want to train your dog with positive reinforcement solely and feel satisfied with it – Do it, By all means.

And to relate back to having two young dogs that are not my own here at home for the first time; It is not a location where one is devoted to training dogs. It is a location where one is devoted to extinguishing fires. Young dogs are not automatically well -behaved – Their brains have, after all, run out through one ear, they have lost all hearing and ability to cognitive understanding. In such a situation, I believe it is easier to use body language and so on to lower energy levels and make them stop triggering each other to continued bus, In spite of consistent reprimands that it is enough.

And the fact is that it gives results. It's the other day since then as one young dog is here, and now is that I think it should be. Quiet and comfortable. The dogs can hang out without playing continuously for a whole day. They listen and understand. We can devote ourselves to cuddling and having a good time together instead of arguing and wrestling. This dog does not do much but waving the tail and licks me on my hands (Unlike constantly jumping and nibbing me in hands and forearms) And is super happy.

The other dog will come again on Wednesday, and it remains to be seen how much I managed to reach there.

It shouldn't nor come as some surprise what kind of dog I prefer. Soft and wrapping dogs can probably be cozy in their wise, But I like dogs with pressure, stuns and resistance. They do not necessarily have to have extreme energy, but that they have their own will, sharpness, are independent and so on just make me attract to them even more.

Regarding education of dogs – I don't have a lot of rules. The ones I have, however, I am very rigid with. For me, it is very important that there is a framework around our interaction. Both the dogs and I need it, so we know what we have to relate to. The goal is never for us to argue – However, it may be something that needs to be done to reach the goal. Especially when we talk about young dogs.

By and large, The whole I think education is more important than training of our dogs. I am aware that your and my opinion probably differs a great deal, But it must be like that. For me it is more important that my dog works in the contexts and situations I place him in – and that the dogs that hang with us, Works at home with us, than that either of them is well -trained in absurdum.

As the final squeeze wants I take the opportunity to push in that when a dog is calm, Safe and stable so it will be fairly compliant enough to work in everyday life. Investing in building a sensible relationship with one's dog – Whether you do it through training or communication, and that the dog's energy level stays at a reasonable level, so it is fully enough for the dog to work.

But it is Of course only my very own, Personal opinion. You are terribly happy to think differently.
