Larry Krohn is a new acquaintance for me, but I liked him instantly. Do not remember what the first clip with him I saw, but since then I have watched significantly more and I really like what I see and hear. He has a wonderfully nice attitude towards dogs – and how to socialize with them.

Unlike both Cesar Millan and Alexandra Ortega are Larry Krohn (and several with him) dog trainer. What makes me like him so much is what he calls the 80/20 rule. That rule means that general obedience training is the least important thing in how to live with a dog. The general obedience, according to Krohn, consisting of 20% of one's life together with a dog, and the rest 80% consisting of – education.

And for it who wonders; by training is meant guidance for the dog so that it knows which forms of behavior are ok, and what is not ok. In the clip I saw today, Krohn gave a good example of a greeting ritual that in most cases is not ok; the owner meets his dog after a long time and greets with high, squeaky voice which has as the only result that the dog goes up in energy and becomes almost violent in his happy nights to see his human. Ella was that type, which resulted in that every time I was away from her, if only in the laundry room, I totally ignored her when I came in. It gave her space to calm down, and when she was calm and sensible again I could say hello and pat her.

One of those things What I like about Larry Krohn is that he advocates a very balanced lifestyle with dogs. For a dog to function optimally (according to very many) it needs balance, and you do not get that by only training your dog to the behaviors you want. It needs more than that, and given that it is we who have invited it into our lives, it is our duty and duty to offer that balance.

Now it's very recently I started following Larry Krohn, so I have not seen much with him (even if everything is relative). But I can say that if you want to get a nuanced picture of all this with education, building relationships with his dog, exercise, positive reinforcement (which is what he does) and corrections, I absolutely think you should take a look at him.

What you should be aware is that Larry Krohn lives and works in the United States. This means that he also works with electric necklaces and other tools that we do not do here in Sweden. However, I think you can ignore that; especially since he is clear that if you raise a dog right from the start, you do not need to use the tougher tools when the dog's bad habits become more of a problem than anything else..

I agree about everything Larry Krohn says? Do not know, because I have not seen everything. But I agree with a lot of what I have seen and heard so far, and intend to continue following him because I will be able to learn a lot.
