While I'm learning on my own to live without Ella, I thought I'd tell you a little about my plans going forward. I've known for a long time that I won't be able to do without one (smallest!) dog in my life, and have been thinking for a long time about how the hell I'm going to go about getting myself a new dog after Ella.
After a while thinking, I have come to the conclusion that I do not want another dog bred for the armed forces. There are a lot of advantages in and of themselves – for example, I now have quite good experience of how such a dog works, but I actually think the cons outweigh the cons. By cons I mean the extremely high energy, the will to work, the intensity and so on. It has worked for me and Ella, but I don't want another dog like that. Plus everything I could think of to do with an FM dog, can i do with other dogs too.
As I believe that I also mentioned earlier, However, I'm not interested in a slightly mesier dog. I want and need a dog that requires a little more commitment from its human when it comes to leadership. This means that there are quite a few dog breeds that fall away. Especially since I don't want a small dog either. Anything smaller than Ella is too small.
I don't want to rather have a hunting dog. I'm also not particularly interested in breeds like the Pitbull, American Staffordshire and similar. It's just not races I want.
What I, however for many years has been excessively interested in, are several different molossers. Molosser, you say, what the hell is that? Glue in SKK's dog breed guide, then you will see. The Molossers are in a racial group 2. Big ones dogs with sharpness and a need for firm and stable leadership.
WHEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! ♥ ♥ ♥
I rage that interested me in this group include Berner Sennen, Bullmastiff, Cane Corso, Estrela Mountain Dog, Canary Dogo (Presa Canario), Newfoundland, Leonberger – and a lot more. The more obscure and unknown the race, the better. And every time I porn surf dog breeds, I get stuck in terms of images for the ones that turn out to be the most difficult to get hold of in Sweden, needs the strongest leadership, and so on. Mostly cattle/guard dogs.
My thoughts on this race thing has been going around like crazy, I can say. I've been mulling over mixed breeds versus purebreds, combined with purchase costs and how the hell am I going to get money for it within a reasonable time without becoming an old age pensioner before I can afford it, and so on ad infinitum.
But then decided me me, fast and funny.
I'm going to get myself in Estrela mountain dog (Estrela Mountain Dog). It is a cattle/guard dog from Portugal, but in Sweden it is used (not only, But also) as a companion dog. A companion dog with sharpness and guard. Also significantly bigger than my Ella, who was a small and pointed girl.
In other words, understand you how fucking astuffest this is??? 😀
Oh my God, i will be absolutely sprightly all over just thinking about it.
The only downside is that as far as I know there is ONE breeder in all of Sweden right now. Right now and for some time to come, there will be no puppies on Swedish soil, which means that if I want one I have to import. Imports = extra costs.
Men – i want one. I think I deserve to have a dog where the breed is one that actually matches me more, than a Defense Force bred dog ever will. Again; Ella and I have been extremely unhappy – fixed in and of itself; maybe that's why we adored each other so much.
What I can do say is in any case that oh my god, how I look forward to meeting a new breed in a new dog. Now I have had an FM German Shepherd – it will be so damn interesting to challenge myself with something completely different.
Then how I should carry me to get around 25 000 strain to buy the dog and transport it from Portugal to Sweden – that is a completely separate question.
