It's the day before Christmas Eve, and I'm so tired I can barely keep my eyes open. So it goes, if you go to bed far too late in relation to when you should get up. And today I have three dogs at home – it's actually the first time. As the title of the post suggests, it's Egon (the polar mixture), Lilo (amphatika) and Floki (finnish lapdog) who is visiting me today.
The ego actually has to be here for several days. He came here yesterday and will stay until Wednesday. He has a large family that struggles to get Christmas together with adults, small children, cats and other things, and instead of Egon having to be stressed about all that, he gets to be here, in peace and quiet.
So I will celebrate jul (I don't celebrate Christmas) together with Egon – and Lilo, whose mother works tomorrow.
Lilo and Egon have already met and socialized, but it was the first time Egon met Floki. Therefore, Egon and I met both Lilo and Floki outside to take a walk together before going inside. Today I got to see evidence of how a pack can help an individual dog, and then in this case I think of Floki and leash sense.
Flocks, the three-year-old who believes that the world revolves around him, who is unfocused and easily distracted and, on the whole, is extremely rude to join – after a while he really walked, really nice. He was focused and went straight ahead without bouncing around like a bouncing ball, which was true, really nice.
Then there was of course occasions when he wanted to spare himself, but it almost only happened when we stopped because I wanted to untangle the tangled rope, or let one of them pee.
While Lilo and ena the side goes fantastically beautifully on walks, then there are things she is a little less good at. An example is that she does not see it as necessary to correct Floki when he mumbles, rather, it turns out that she hangs on and wants to play instead.
It makes that the change in energy and awakening to what is ok, takes longer than I would like for Floki's sake. Therefore, I see Floki's association with Egon as one of the best things that could have happened to him. He would have to hang out with Egon for a longer continuous period of time, but as I wrote to his mother; you take what you get when it's given. One day is better than none at all.
What is entertaining, and something I take as evidence that the walk was effective in terms of structure and order, is that all the dogs have been completely exhausted today. We got in after about an hour of walking, and after the first moment's pleasure of being inside, they all parked and were completely knocked out.
For my own part I think it's a lot of fun to be able to walk with three dogs, two of which have not met before. Ella didn't work with very many dogs, but I've always liked going with two. When Floki becomes still, still and even a little better on the leash, going for long walks with three will be as pleasant as ever (or more) dogs. Herd influence rocks! ♥
I really like to see how one dog can affect another. This is also the reason why I would very much like to have Egon here when I get my puppy home. Maybe not the first few weeks, but pretty soon – so that he can help raise, but also show my puppy, how to behave in this world.
Amazing stuff, this. ♥
