I told you that my friends a couple of houses down the street have brought home a puppy, and that I'm honestly absolutely fucking green with envy. Two choices, what a newspaper I am. Combined with the fact that the Estrelatik the breeder plans to mate, not yet started running (at least not as far as I know), and that it is still not a guarantee that there will actually be puppies, makes me start to stagger.
The thing is like that that I want a dog. My dog. I have certainly been ready to wait a while for my Estrela puppy, partly to have time to mourn Ella, partly because – there, I want an Estrela. But right now, especially when my friends have acquired a new one (super cute!) puppy, it feels damn traditional to wait.
I like the me is together with one (above all min) dog. I like that I am getting better and clearer in my boundary setting, and that the whole me gets a firmer shape. Without a dog, I feel myself to be a little too soft and shapeless for my own taste.
So now I stand here in the selection and qualification. Should I put ice in my stomach and wait a while longer and hope that there will actually be a bunch of Estrela puppies, Or should I start looking for something else??
Should I start looking? after something else, there is a risk that it will take a while, that with. I don't want to get anything. Should I have another dog, it doesn't necessarily have to be a purebred, but I'm very picky about what I can imagine having in a mixed breed.
For example, I want not, even though I like Lilo, have an amtraffic mixture of some kind. As I understand it, Amstaff and similar breeds are prone to some skin problems and food allergies, and I honestly can't afford that. Also, they are way too small and have too little fur for my taste.
That I straight arm could imagine are mixes in the style of newfoundland/shepherd/estrela/leonberger or similar. Not all breeds together, but a mixture of a couple of these breeds is something I can imagine without hesitation.
Because I would like to wants a slightly tougher dog that demands a little more from its human, Unfortunately, many breeds are disappearing. Because I also prefer not to have a working dog, there are still quite a few breeds that fall away, although I think they are/seem very interesting.
I'm not either interested in small dogs at all. So there are even more breeds that fall away.
The options that available right now is to wait for the Swedish Estrela breeder and see what happens, to contact breeders in other countries (I have already started searching) and review the possibilities of importing from above all Finland or possibly Great Britain. The last option is to get me another dog now, and wait to get an Estrela until another time when I'm not feeling quite as restless.
…
I actually emailed the breeder yesterday (because I started writing this post already yesterday) and asked how they were doing. I was told that their other bitch (not a stud) has started running, and that it should probably start the bitch that is to be mated. It made me feel like I can wait a little while longer – but if nothing happens on that front I think I'll simply hold off on getting an Estrela, because I both want and need a dog – soon.
It feels a little tricky, this wobbling like this. But then – I long for min dog so I snap.
