Today has been a really tense today, though not at all in a positive way. First of all, I have had three dogs here today – stay, Lilo and Flóki. Just that in itself is pretty tired and, because there are three energies that work together in different ways, depending on who you pair up with. But that's not what Floki's nasty adventure was all about today. Sewing, because it was something completely different.
Today in the afternoon Floki realized it was a good idea to vomit bile. Three times he vomited bile, which is among the most disgusting things I know. His mother has told me that he sometimes does it when he hasn't eaten properly in the morning, so I didn't think much of it, other than I had to wipe it up.
But before I having made it this far, I notice that both Egon and Lilo rush up to Floki, lying on the side in the hall and convulsing.
You can't imagine the level my stress rose to. Oh, damn it. Oh, fuck the street, I'm just saying. Floki is lying in my hall convulsing and has frad in his mouth. Lilo and Egon stand by and watch.
I myself have time think about a trillion thoughts in the space of a few seconds, and most thoughts were moving – I won't make it to the vet before he dies! How am I going to get a car here and someone who can drive within two seconds? I have to call his mother, but I can't turn my back on Floki in the meantime!
I thought damn seriously that he would die.
Now it was – Thankfully, not so. He convulsed for one or possibly two minutes – max. Then it stopped, and it took some kind of time before he came to. During those seconds I thought he looked stiff and tense in his hind legs, so I bent down to feel for it. Then he reacted as probably any dog would, and bit my hand. Of course. The other hand, this time.
But my hand is uninteresting in the context. What's interesting is that he made it through this experience without dying. And believe me, it was really fucking nasty during that time. I've seen similar ones before, both with humans and dogs, but it was a very long time ago. I was completely shaken for a long time afterwards.
When Floki's math picked him up today, we stood and talked for a long time. She will make an appointment with the vet to find out what this is, which I think is extremely appropriate. She said that this is not the first time, but it has happened once before about a year ago. Then the vet said that “once is never once” and that it is difficult to investigate. But now it has happened again, so now it's time to investigate.
Of course I have googled and from what i have found this could be due to two things. Either he has epilepsy, or he has diabetes. It could probably be a lot of other things too, but I did a quick google and skimmed through some of the top search results. What it actually is will be noticed when the vet examines him.
Need I say that Floki has been completely exhausted all afternoon and evening!? He was so tired he almost looked cross, kraken. I suspect he will sleep undisturbed tonight. I will too, I hope.
This was an adventure I think both Floki and I could have done without. But now it happened, and we both survived. so maybe I should not feel too surprised that she is the same from the other side, how he scared me. Phew!!!
