When I wrote the previous post earlier today, I realized that I have to write a post about the vision I have for Boyo – what kind of dog I want him to be. This is really important, because it sets the bar for how I will raise him.
At most concise ways I can think of, my target image looks like this; I want a working dog.
I want to have a dog I can handle physically – bell ringing, check teeth and ears, get to know the whole dog, brush out the coat if and when needed, and so on.
I want too that he should function socially in a sensible way. For example, I will be super careful about how to behave when the doorbell rings, and when we meet people and dogs we know outdoors.
Ella was one overly affectionate and hysterically happy dog, combined with her absurd energy level, so it was difficult to control her in these particular situations.
I don't want to that it will be like that with Boyo – especially not as he will in all likelihood be considerably larger than Ella. A big, black German Shepherd pouncing on one is no big deal, especially not if you are afraid of dogs or just in general above dogs.
I want too that Boyo will become a dog I can take with me everywhere. There were never any major problems with Ella, but I wish Boyo is a little more calm and composed than she was (it's not that hard, actually 😀 ).
The most important is how we live together and what our relationship looks like (Molly included), but it is also important to have a dog that can move on a leash outdoors. I want Boyo to be a confident dog, preferably a happy and positive dog, but with greater self-control than some others who are starting out E and stops at lla.
Therefore, it is here with leash walks super important. Likewise, how we deal with what we encounter outdoors. Dog meetings also need to work as well as possible. I have no desire to be the one that other dog owners talk crap about behind my back (and believe me, dog owners talk about each other without shame).
That would be good if he doesn't become so vigilant about resources (Toys, mat, chewing bones and so on). Because after all, there are quite a few dogs here, this feels like a boring feature because it means you can't have stuff in front.
By and large, all in all, you can sum it all up with the fact that I want a dog that works in everyday life. As you know, I am extremely uninterested in training and competing. I want a cool and cozy dog to share mine and Molly's life with.
It is also exactly what I intend to make Boyo become.
