Today (actually tomorrow, because I'm writing this on Saturday) is it on the date two months since I went to Skåne and brought Boyo home. Oh my God, two months. It's absolutely crazy. It feels like he's always been here. Although I still have a hard time letting go of Ella, so Boyo is as natural in my life as she was. He will like being here.
Photographed a few days ago on a walk in the track.
Anyone who have children – or puppy, for that part, know that time seems to pass without you noticing it. Day to day is somehow quite uninteresting. And, it is when they grow from moment to moment that you can notice it, but otherwise time just flies.
Two months.
And to mine great joy, many years ahead together with Boyo.
I wrote a post a few days ago about me having a hard time letting go of Ella, which easily turns to Boyo's disadvantage. So it is – but that does not mean that Boyo is a bad dog. Oh my God – quite the contrary. Ella was so insanely much of a dog. She was also an incredibly good dog, but her energy, intensity, drive and sharpness kind of got the better of me, so the goodness ended up a little in the dark.
Boyo, to others page, he's so good it's such a pity for him. He is so good that I almost slap him. He's so cozy it makes me go crazy. ♥
…
It has happened quite a lot in two months. The most obvious is that he has Plant something absolutely incredible. He could go under Lilo's belly when he got home – a few weeks from now he will be able to stand with Lilo under his own belly (he's trying now, but it mostly happens that he kind of hangs over her back and looks hysterically funny).
If you come remember, I wrote about my first impressions about a week after I picked up Boyo. There I wrote that he is quite reserved – but it has changed a lot. He is still more reserved than Ella, but that's not saying much considering how excessively social she was. But if we meet someone we know, then he gets very happy and wants to rush forward on the leash to get to the front. We need to practice that, because it is extremely annoying.
We have too had that turn with a crappy stomach and a lot of gutter shit, combined with the concern that it might be the giardia parasite (which thankfully it wasn't). He has eaten pig expensive veterinary food, and is now back on its own entirely. It has worked well so far, so keep your fingers crossed that it continues like this.
Speaking of mat, stomach and growth; I went and weighed him last Thursday. The last time I weighed him he had almost gained weight 4,5 kilos in a couple of weeks. This time, thankfully, it has been slower; he had gone up 1,25 kilos and thus weighed quite accurately 15 kilo – on Thursday.
The puppy fur has released almost entirely now. There are some stains left – especially around the neck, litegrand on one hind leg and tail. Otherwise, he has gone from having completely matte puppy fur, to be shiny and gorgeous in his new coat. I'm happy anyway, although I would have really liked it if he got longer fur than he has. He has about the same length and quality of fur as Ella had.
You had could have thought he would be more biting than he is, but he doesn't bite or chew very much at all. Or, jo, it's clear he does. But hardly at all on me or stuff, but he mostly chews on his toys and Lilo. She has now started getting small bite marks all over her head, on the lips, around the neck – there, everywhere he goes. Luckily, both herself and her mother are ok with it. 😀
By and large, all in all, Boyo is a very easy-to-manage puppy. He walks nicely on a leash, have little ideas of their own about cars, cats and birds outdoors, he usually listens to me if he is not very tired and unfocused, he loves to be cuddled with when we go to sleep… And, but he is an absolutely amazing little guy. ♥
Bell rings going better and better. He doesn't fight back as much anymore, but is not overjoyed. God knows what's up with his claws, dock, because I cut the pulp of at least one claw on almost every paw. I have cut Ella in the pulp too, but not this many, and not this often. No matter how shady.
…
To find some kind of conclusion in the whole thing, I can say that I am so incredibly happy to live together with a dog again. The months after Ella, innan boyo – it's not the same thing, living without a dog.
Now I have Boyo, and also Lilo part-time. I feel incredibly privileged.
