I have written before about how I think everything with Covid has contributed to it, especially environmental training and socialization when it comes to Boyo (and of course other people's puppies and young dogs). I do not have a car, So we have been on the whole been quite tied at home. We have been down town a few times, otherwise – not a single small adventure.
But today happened the. Today we went on our first adventure, all the way to the Vallby open-air museum here in town. That's where I thought we should go, ever since he was a puppy. But it was too far to walk for a small puppy. I also didn't want to go by bus considering the risk of infection. In summer it is too hot to walk that far, and I don't have a car.
What I, however is, is fully vaccinated. I am extremely cautious though, but today we took the bus and went there. The whole point was that I was going to see one of my oldest friends that I hadn't seen in a couple of years – also that because of Covid. But with both vaccinated, we took the liberty of meeting. We were also very careful – no hugs or kisses, and authorized distance.
Boyo has thus got to see their first horses, their first goats, he has seen rabbits and birds behind fences – and the chickens that roam the area. Apart from scolding both the horses and the goats, he generally behaved in an exemplary manner. I was actually deeply impressed. In addition, he was extremely good with my friend who is in a wheelchair. She loves dogs, so she wasn't bothered by him standing up against the chair and kissing her all over the face. Besides that, he was really badass – I was really deeply impressed.
Then he was of course unfocused and unconcentrated to a thousand. I took some pictures, but it was quite impossible to make eye contact with him. Everything was so exciting to watch – of course.
We were gone for several hours, and when we got in he basically collapsed the second he took off his leash and collar. Now he has been knocked out for several hours. Even if it was hot and hard, so we both got an awful lot of impressions to deal with. Boyo isn't really used to it, so he will surely be tired for a long time.
But I have to say that it was very funny to discover that he could handle himself so amazingly well in new, unknown environment. Certainly, he was incredibly curious and would smell exactly exactly everywhere. But he didn't turn out like that so he pulled like crazy, but it was about as usual but a little more enthusiastic. At least he had a lot of fun, and today's adventure was incredibly useful to him.
It also got myself to feel a little less trapped. I've been (and is) extremely good at isolating myself. I don't shop in stores at all, except when I buy tobacco at OK. When I order stuff I pay for home delivery if possible. I have barely met people since Covid was discovered in Sweden, so this getting out and going was incredibly nice.
Mersmak gave it, in addition. Now it's summer and fucking hot both inside and out, so right now there probably won't be that many adventures. But when the temperature drops to reasonable levels, I think we'll try to get out a little now and then.
