Dog bits

And then I do not mean the dog bite as in “I love dogs” Although this is completely true. No, Today the heading refers to exactly what it says – I have been bitten. Of floki. Yesterday when we were to cut the claws. It wasn't something I had expected – at all, actually.

That Floki does not like Getting their claws cut is no novelty. I have told you about it before. We have practiced it several times, and i have thought that it has gone better. Not a good deal, of course, but slightly better for each time.

Yesterday strained I am in order to do it in the best way possible. It was yet more gos and sweets than before, In order to step by step his experience of an unpleasant and nasty experience into more and more positive. And it went great. First front paw went as well as any.

But then I would Start on the second front paw, And somewhere there was something that shifted for Floki, and he flipped out total. He flew up and began to behave like a real mupp. I tried to get hold of him to make him calm down, And there somewhere – bet he in the hand.

I managed to get grab him and held him firmly in the neck to prevent him from continuing to chop around. It took a little while, But in the end he calmed down. During that moment quite a lot of thoughts went through my head.

The first was – I sheep don't give up. I must not give up and let him win by making the bite his way of ending anything he doesn't like.

But first the time – I gave up. I didn't cut any more claws. Mostly because I was bleeding from the hand he bit me, and because I was also in pain. I wouldn't have been able to hold his paws steady, so it would not have been good to continue.

I'm not completely pleased with how this situation turned out. I'm also not entirely happy with how I handled it. But I've actually never experienced this before. Ella would never have ever even thought to even mark. Clock cutting with her was like a dream. But then we started training already when she was tiny puppy, and it was a cozy moment every time we were to cut the claws.

Also felt we each other so well that if a situation arises where I needed to be determined, So I knew exactly how I would carry on for it to work.

There is little different lessons to pull off this. To start with; Floki is not a monster. He has not learned to be managed in a sensible way, and he is incredibly afraid of his own body for that reason. I am absolutely convinced that it is possible to teach him that clock cutting at home can be super cozy, But I have decided that it is a task for his math. I don't want to expose myself to the risk of being bitten once a week, When it's not my own dog.

Another lesson is; This is proof of how Incredible Important It is to start training your dog in physical handling already as a puppy. Do you want the dog to be able to have the claws cut, The teeth inspected, and so on, must one start with it in time. Otherwise you stand there like a mound when the dog is adult, and have to pay unnecessary money to get the claws cut.

A third lesson For my personal part is that I need to be better at not engaging more than necessary in other people's dogs. I wish, But I actually don't have to. This is something I'm bad at, and I guess it's on both good and evil. I usually find it fun to do a little extra, But I have a tendency to do more than I need – and it is not necessary.

Regarding the bite itself and my hand; It's mostly a little tear marks, A little bigger – intermediate between tear marks and holes, Like bleeding, and yesterday i was pretty swollen in a couple of places. I'm sore in my hand, but can touch everything without problems. I feel a little weak all over my hand, But after all I have been bitten, So it might not be so strange. I don't think I will have any problems, When everything has settled and healed.

By and large, the whole it feels like – shit, What an adventure. Not a particularly fun adventure, But an adventure nonetheless. There are a lot of thoughts about this in my head right now, and I'm not quite sure where they take the road.

I had hoped on that I could help Floki and his math with the clipping so she can in the long run do it herself. But I actually don't want to expose myself to the risk of being bitten again.

The motivation for that Training my own dog in handling, however, has gone to the ceiling. This is not a problem I want to be drawn with, As for a dog that in adulthood will weigh around 50 – 60 kilo.
