I have known for a long time that I want my puppy to have good food, especially during the first year while he is growing so hard. I have looked around quite a bit among different brands – it's actually quite insane how expensive it is. And even then, dry food for dogs is cheaper than dry food for cats. 😮
I had decided me for a food I was going to introduce to my puppy. What I didn't think about was that Lilo, amphatfiken, which is here several days a week, have quite a few allergies. For example, she is super allergic to chicken, and in the very lining I had envisioned it is – chicken.
Considering that my puppy needs to eat several times a day, even when Lilo is here, I don't want to risk her getting sick to her stomach because she accidentally ingests a couple of balls of dry food with chicken. The likelihood of this happening is imminent. In other words; a feed without chicken. In this I feel somewhat rigid, actually.
So I have to find a better quality puppy food that is reasonable in cost but not contains chicken.
Easier said than done done, I can say. I've started the look-for-feed-without-chicken project, and so far I have found two brands that have puppy food without chicken, at a somewhat reasonable price. Purina and Doggy Professional. I'll see if I can find anything or a few more, and then I have to decide. My plan is to buy home quite a lot of dry food, so I have a while ahead. Considering delivery times and so on, and the fact that I want everything at home before my puppy moves home, I will decide relatively soon.
Incidentally, can I tell you that I paid a down payment on my dog (don't remember if I told you and am too lazy to check), and bought train tickets to and from Skåne on 12 February. Feels absolutely insane. It will be eight months and one week after I lost Ella, like a new puppy bumping into my life. Absolutely incredible. I’m in awe.
Speaking of Ella; I have of course told her that she is going to have a little brother. Not because she might be here in the flesh and can raise him, but she will still be able to join in the spirit.
Regarding the name I'm actually starting to get somewhere. I have brooded and gnashed my teeth and slept far too little two nights in a row – I'm completely exhausted. But today I got a new picture of the little guy, and it made a big difference to my name considerations. I haven't made up my mind so it's written in stone, but I'm very close. I'll tell you when I've really made up my mind.
I am neither used to or spoiled to go around feeling satisfied like this, but right now I'm really, really, really happy with how this turned out. I'm so excited to have a black one soon, probably at least semi-long-haired German Shepherd puppy at home. Most of the time I push it away, how good it turned out. ♥
