A little reprogramming

There will be some re-planning the upcoming week. In fact, it feels pretty good, even if it is different from what I had expected. But it gives me room to breathe a little and recover from this week's adrenaline rush and, from my side, albeit not on purpose, exaggerated emotions.

Tuesday is Floki's last day with me. After last week's adventure with his seizure, I've realized that I can't really cope with helping his mother with him. There are too many surprises, and although, on the whole, I am well treated and well medicated in my bipolar disorder, I have a very low stress tolerance. It feels sad that it has to be like this, but for my own sake – and also for Molly and Boyo's sake, I have to put myself first.

Egon's master with family came by today with a new bag of dry food for him, because the old one is running out. We talked a bit about Egon and his physical health, which unfortunately isn't great. He is old, he is tired and lame, he takes pain pills – and I live three flights up. It is not ultimate for him to be here, although still doing relatively well.

Therefore, we have determined that this is the last time Egon is with me. It also feels very boring, but Egon is neither getting younger nor better, so I think it's best for him not to come here anymore.

Then we talked also a bit about Egon versus Molly, and a couple of hours after the master plus family left, he called and told me that they are probably picking up Egon a few days before it was supposed to.

And the fact is that it feels quite nice. In many different ways. Partly, I will have time to unwind even more, I will have time to rest a bit before I go and pick up Boyo, and there will be peace and quiet for Molly.

On Wednesday will come Mysak hit, but Mysak and Molly have known each other all their lives. They are about the same age, and Mysak has been here a little now and then since he was a puppy and Molly a young cat. Mysak also lives with a bunch of cats himself, so he knows how to behave around them.

So in the big picture all in all, I think it will be relatively good anyway, eventually. For a few days this week I've been a little worried that I'd be completely exhausted when Boyo gets home, but this gives me more space than I originally thought, to catch up and refuel before it's time to take Boyo home.

Then I think (and I know I'm rambling now) that it is super boring when it comes to Egon above all. Floki is sad too, but he is still young and (relatively) healthy apart from the seizure. The ego is old, and there is no one who can say how long he will last.

However, I am happy for my own sake that it turns out this way. I am extremely grateful to have been able to hang out with Egon and Floki. I learn something from and with every dog, and such lessons are never wasted. But I'm glad I get this space for peace and quiet. I will need it.

For the following week, starting on Wednesday 12 February, starts my, Molly and Boy's own adventure – our life together. It will be super exciting, and now it's actually starting to get closer by leaps and bounds. Time will fly by, and then it's time.
